About this objectPocket Sparklet Resuscitator, belonging to Dr Gemmel Tassie. Single"J" sized pocket sparklet resuscitator holder. The holder consists of a valve key at one end of the neck and washer at the other. Part way along the neck is an outlet valve. It is used to give a boost of carbon dioxide which stimulates the patient to breathe.
Also included is an A6 card covered booklet entitled "The Treatment of All RESPIRATORY EMERGENCIES with the "J" size Pocket SPARKLET RESUSCITATOR"
Dr Leslie “Gemmel” Tassie graduated from Adelaide University in 1926, working as a general practitioner, first in the Murray Mailee then in 1943, moved to McLaren Vale where he was the only GP between the Adelaide Hills and Murray Bridge. He retired in 1981.
