About this objectThe cardboard box originally contained 12 ampoules of adrenaline. 6 ampules remain in the box. The purpose built cardboard box is decorated in a light grey leather pattern. The pasted label reads, ‘ Sterile Ampoules’ ‘0402’ Adrenaline in oil 2mgm In 1ml’ ‘ 12 x 1ml’ ‘ For intramuscular injection only’ ‘Ampoule to be warmed and well shaken until Adrenalin is thoroughly dispersed through oil’.
The manufacturer logo, outline of Australia in a circle, initials DHA in centre, is in white, light blue and navy blue ink. A watermark in light blue of ‘DHA’ is printed to the background of the label. Each ampoule is stamped with the serial number ‘0408’, as seen on the label.
Dr Nancarrow purchased the Alberton Medical Clinic in May 1949. The practice had started with Dr Alick Benson in 1890, followed by Dr Coverton, Dr St John-Poole, Dr Bertram Jolly in 1944. When Dr Nancarrow retired and closed the practice in 2012, the Heritage Office took the century of medical artefacts into the collection.
