Name/TitleExterior: Adelaide Hospital East and West Wings and Theatre
About this objectThis view of the old Adelaide Hospital at the North Terrace site illustrates the Theatre building on the left with the main hospital buildings to the right. The large lawn in the foreground has a small palm tree with undergrowth. The trees bordering the driveway are in flower.
It is believed that the theatre block of 1891 was the first in Australia to have attached to it post-operative, or what would now be called recovery wards.
The block site map of 1955 illustrates the position of these buildings before their demolition in 1963.
One of the maps can be found as AR#4680.
